Chilesaurus diegosuarezi

In 2004, in the very heart of the General Carrera Province, a set of fossilized dinosaur remains was discovered in the hills southeast of Mallín Grande. After years of research, the uniqueness of these bones places them as a new link in the evolutionary chain of dinosaurs, unmatched worldwide, combining traits from three distinct groups: theropods, sauropodomorphs, and ornithischians. This makes it the most scientifically significant paleontological discovery in Chile.
