Blue Rock (Piedra Azul)

The Blue Rock (Piedra Azul) is located just a few meters west of the city of Chile Chico. It is made up of volcanic rocks that belong to the oldest geological unit in the city.

Its ancient age has allowed it to witness all the climate and landscape changes in this area: from the eruption of major volcanoes, flooding by rivers, the incursion and retreat of the Atlantic Ocean, the passage of glaciers, and just over a century ago it even served as a strategic refuge during the so-called “War of Chile Chico.”
