Ibáñez River Waterfall (Salto del río Ibáñez)

The Salto del Río Ibáñez is a spectacular waterfall located approximately 4 kilometers northwest of the town of Puerto Ingeniero Ibáñez. Due to its scenic value and its strong sense of identity for the local community, it is considered one of the most significant natural heritage sites in the General Carrera Province.

The site features a set of two cascades, measuring 15 and 40 meters in height, along with prominent fluvial terraces, ash deposits from the Hudson Volcano, and silt and clay layers that bear witness to ancient glacial activity.

The Chelenko Geopark Project has created a comprehensive interpretive guide on the geology of this area, which you can download for free from here.
