Pinned Rock (Piedra Clavada)

Located approximately 21 kilometers south of the city of Chile Chico, Piedra Clavada stands out as one of the most striking geosites in the General Carrera Province.

In terms of its origin, it is the most representative example in the entire Aysén Region of the geological process known as differential weathering. This process shows how, when exposed to the same natural agents (such as water, wind, or ice), rocks with different compositions break down and alter in different ways.
