GEOSITE
Indian Rock (Piedra del Indio)
Standing approximately 40 meters tall, over 1 kilometer long, and only about 200 meters wide, the Piedra del Indio is one of the most iconic landmarks of Chile Chico. This geosite is located just south of the town’s urban area.
It is well known for rock climbing, but it also holds significant archaeological value due to the presence of ancient rock art (petroglyphs).
Why does it have such a peculiar shape? What kind of rock is it made of, and why is it so hard?
You can learn more about this geosite in the book “Interactive and Inclusive Routes in Jeinimeni,” available here.
